Custom Console Table for Under $50
In every project we take on, we try to showcase a little flair by incorporating a few DIY projects that anyone can do. Today we’ll share how we created a custom DIY console table for under $50! This was from the South Philadelphia project we completed a couple of weeks ago. We love this idea because it proves that good design doesn’t have to break the bank!
Necessity is the mother of invention and this project was certainly born out of need. The dining room space was a bit narrow and we wanted to provide a small bar space for our client. We looked and looked but every table we found was just too big. We needed a long flat surface that was fairly shallow. Originally we thought about adding this floating shelf but it looked unfinished without anything under it.
Then the idea hit me, what if we added legs to the floating shelf? Had this been done? Was this a truly original idea??? Um, no! But it was still a good one and really inexpensive! We simply took the floating shelf and attached 2 legs to the front.
We then attached the shelf to the wall as if there were no legs (just make sure the legs are resting on the ground) and there you have it! A simple custom console table! We added 2 sconces with similar colors to make the table pop! We accessorized it with pictures, wine, and candles. Mission complete! We even added one more in the entryway!
The client loved them and we’ve been asked about these tables several times so we thought we’d share the idea with you! Total cost was under $50. Anyone going to try this one? Let us know!
