A focal point is generally described as the first place your eyes go when entering a space. Good design will always include a focal point. Focal points can be anything from a fireplace, art, a bed, to a chandelier or even a bouquet of flowers!
Does your space lack a focal point? Create one!
You can see in this “before” photo, that this basement lacked any clear focal point (unless you count the horrible steel pole).
In order to de-emphasize the pole, we wrapped it and instead created a stone wall feature.
Now the first thing you notice when you enter the space is a wall feature which offers visual interest through texture and color, and creates a sense of balance which sets the tone for the entire space.
Now that’s a focal point!
PS- Total cost for the stone wall was under $100!
