Functional Clock Table
One of our favorite things to do is to create simple, affordable, fun projects, that literally anyone can do!
Today’s project is no exception! We’ve found that this a functional gem produces a simplistic piece of unique furniture that can truly be customized to fit any space. It’s our functional clock table!
This project is basically consists of joining a base with a clock and there you have it. We will walk you through our process and show you the finished product! This project can definitely be completed in just a few hours and since our first one, we’ve been commissioned to complete several more.
The key to this project is finding the right base. We’ve used small tables and even the base of a vanity stool. For this particular clock table, we found a used and rather worn small end table at a thrift store for about $10 and the clock top we found at Big Lots for $12!
Once we had our two key pieces in place, we were almost done! We sanded the finish off the table and then painted it. We used Valspar’s high gloss charcoal gray and silver spray paint for our finishes. To further link the clock top with the end table, we painted the tips of the legs silver.
After that , all that was left to do was to attach the clock top to the table base. We did this by cutting Command Strips into small pieces and sticking them on the clock top and table base so as not to be seen. The Command Strips are key because they can reattached when batteries in the clock need to be replaced. Here is the final result!
Not bad for $30 and a couple hours work! Where would you put something like this in your home? Comment below and let us know!
